Rivian Automotive, which produces electric vehicles (EVs),
announced in December 2021 it is investing $5 billion to build
a 2,000-acre site to manufacture batteries for EVs in Morgan
and Walton counties, adjacent to Athens-Clarke County.
Ride the Bus
Athens-Clarke County Transit offers
fare-free comprehensive bus service
throughout the county with on-demand
rides Saturday and Sunday evenings
through the Uber app. Bus times vary
according to the route and day, so check
current schedules and pricing before
traveling. Trip planning is available
through Google Maps and the myStop
app, where you can check the real-time
status and location of a bus, locate bus
stops and routes. All buses are accessible
with room for two wheelchairs.
