Fare-Free Bus Rides
Athens-Clarke County Transit
offers fare-free comprehensive
bus service throughout the
county. Most bus riders
download the mySTOP app
where you can check the real-
time status and location of a
bus and locate bus stops and
routes. All buses are accessible,
with room for two wheelchairs
and two bikes. Buses run daily,
but do not operate on major
holidays. About half the buses
in the fleet are hybrid electric
as they replace older buses.

Several major state highways run through
Athens, while the major byways of Interstates
85 and 20 are easily accessed. Athens’
businesses can reach 80% of the nation’s
industrial and largest consumer markets in
fewer than two truck delivery days.
