Coopers Creek Recreation Area is a gem
Meeks Park in the Suches community. The recreation
area has miles of easy-to-moderate hiking THINGS TO DO
trails and areas in which to hunt and
fish. Coopers Creek and Mulky Creek are
notable trout streams with both wild and
stocked trout.
Mountain Crossing store is at the
Walasi-Yi Interpretive Center at Neel Gap,
a building standing since the Civilian
Conservation Corps built it in 1937.
The Appalachian Trail runs through the
building, the only place on the trail that
goes through a man-made structure where
you can purchase merchandise, clothing,
and souvenirs.
Just 30-or-so miles from Blairsville, in
White County, Anna Ruby Falls is a jewel
of Georgia’s waterfalls. A paved accessible
trail with interpretive signage along the
way leads to the double combining falls
and a visitor center with a gift shop and
picnic areas.
