Agnes Scott College was named in the
1890s in honor of Agnes Irvine Scott, a
DeKalb woman who upheld a strong
sense of integrity and intellectual
curiosity. Her son George Washington
Scott, founder of Scottdale Mills (left),
was the college’s primary benefactor.
East Lake Golf Club, established in
1904 in DeKalb County’s East Lake
neighborhood, was the home course
of famed championship golfer Bobby
Jones (pictured left).
