                still relevant for the small town of more than
        4,000 residents. One of the town’s most historic assets is
        the discovery and naming of the Large Leafed Magnolia
        by André Michaux, a French botanist who discovered the
        tree here in the Stanley area – the prominent feature in the
        town’s logo.
          Summers wouldn’t be as cool without Cooling off
        Concerts on Main, where people bring a chair to relax
        and enjoy the DJ pre-live music, food vendors, and town
        camaraderie. Stanley also hosts the annual Countryfest
        and carnival in the fall, drawing thousands for the music,
        food, and entertainment.
          Stanley is one of the oldest towns in the county, with
